Join WFLI & ROC United for a New York Women's Strategy Session
October 6, 2016, 12:30PM - 2:30PM

Although a monumental step forward, Governor Cuomo's bill establishing a $15 minimum wage in New York State left out nearly 400,000 tipped workers, who actually saw their wages decline as part of the same bill. In fact, the bill was achieved by compromising out these workers -- meanwhile, more than two-thirds of these workers are women, disproportionately women of color, who suffer from the worst poverty, lack access to reproductive health and justice, and experience the highest rates of sexual harassment of any industry in NYS or in the country, precisely because they must rely on customer tips to feed their families.

ROC United, hosted by the WFLI, is convening Long Island women's organizations, advocates, and allies to learn more about the issue and join us to organize in New York State to correct the mistake and make sure these women are paid at a rate that's closer to a family-sustaining wage like everyone else.

Please RSVP by Friday, September 30th.
